Patients come to VCU Baird Vascular Institute (BVI) for a variety of different reasons. Whether they are fighting cancer, or are seeking treatment for another medical issue, patients all have one thing in common: they want to feel empowered throughout their treatment.
So, patients turn to the team at BVI. Understanding what’s happening during medical procedures and being able to work with physicians and specialists in a collaborative effort is important when going through the stress of medical issues.
“We arm our patients with all the information they need, so patients can be in complete control of whatever their next steps may be,” said Megan Quinn, manager of BVI.
Because many patients the BVI team sees are newly diagnosed cancer patients, the medical professionals are sensitive to the emotions that come with such a serious illness.
“We’re one of the next specialists they see,” said Quinn. “There are a lot of things that are totally new and foreign to patients, so we take our role seriously and try to put some control back into patients’ hands.”
Services offered at BVI include:
• Port Placement for Cancer Treatment
• Dialysis Access Management
• Peripheral Vascular Disease Treatment
• Vascular Ultrasound
• Cosmetic Vein Procedures
BVI is located just off Interstate 195 in the near West End at 205 N. Hamilton Street. This stand-alone facility brings the expertise of VCU Medical Center to a convenient neighborhood setting complete with easy parking.
